Briefed with constructing a contemporary new home in Birkdale, Merseyside, Fairways is an imposing 3-storey house with circa 10,000 square feet of accommodation. Not a small undertaking, this statement home filled the full width of this site, providing challenges throughout with access, material deliveries, scaffolding and installing structural and glazing elements. Boasting six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and staff quarters alongside all the rooms you’d expect to find in a space of this stature. Built using beautiful natural sandstone with a flawless rendered finish, the luxury craftsmanship is evident from first glance.

Inside, the master suite boasts panoramic views of the extensively landscaped gardens and the Royal Birkdale golf course beyond. The window in this room was the single largest piece of glass we have ever installed, involving road closures, an 80-ton crane and specialist lifting equipment. The results are spectacular, making the suite the jewel in Fairways’ crown. A passenger lift covers all floors and we fitted a bespoke helical staircase with continuous walnut handrails and burnished metal balustrade hand-crafted by artisan specialists. This is complemented by oversized bespoke American walnut doors and frames throughout. The high-end hand-crafted kitchen includes a walk-in pantry and wine store, making it an all-encompassing practical and social space. Other bespoke details include a top floor gymnasium fitted out with state-of-the art equipment and a letterbox window overlooking the coastline and Welsh mountains beyond, while in the garage we constructed a car stacker lift for our client’s prized car collection – all colour matched to their favourite Ferraris.
