Wickstead Developments is a multi-disciplined studio delivering luxury residential projects across Liverpool, Merseyside, the Wirral and the wider North West. We bring architecture, construction, interior design and landscape design together through one team, one process and one point of contact.
We do not subcontract design or outsource decisions. Our in-house architects draw the plans. Our construction team builds on site. Our interior designers select finishes, materials and furnishings. When all disciplines work from the same studio, every detail is considered from the outset and carried through to completion.
Our story.
Paul Wickstead started building in 1989. After years spent honing his craft across residential construction, he formed Wickstead Developments in 2005 with a straightforward ambition: to build homes that are as thoughtfully designed as they are well made.
The practice began as a construction company, earning a reputation for quality workmanship and honest values. As demand for a more integrated service grew, we expanded into architecture, interior design and landscape design, bringing each discipline in-house rather than relying on external consultants. That decision changed the way we work and the quality of what we deliver.
Today, our purpose-built studio in Formby is home to qualified architects, interior designers and a construction management team. We take on a limited number of projects each year because we believe in doing fewer things better. Every project is personal to us.
Design and build under one roof.
Most building companies offer construction. Most architects offer drawings. Clients are left to coordinate between professionals who rarely speak the same language. Timelines stretch, budgets drift and design intent gets lost somewhere between the drawing board and the building site.
Our Spoke service was created to solve this. It brings architecture, construction, interior design and landscape design together through a single contract, a single point of contact and dedicated project management from start to finish. Your architect sits beside your builder. Your interior designer works with your landscaper. Decisions that would normally take weeks of back-and-forth between separate firms happen in the same studio, often on the same day.
The result is a project that runs to programme, stays on budget and delivers a finished home rather than a shell that needs months of additional work.

Architecture
Our in-house architects deliver a full design service from initial feasibility through to detailed drawings and planning submissions. We design new builds, extensions, renovations and conversions with a focus on light, proportion and how spaces are used in daily life.

We employ skilled tradespeople trained in traditional, craft-based techniques. From foundations to final finishes, our construction team builds to exacting standards. We are fully insured, accredited and members of the Federation of Master Builders.

Our interior designers work with space planning, material palettes, bespoke joinery and furniture specification. Interior design is considered at the architectural stage, not added as an afterthought once the walls are up.

We pride ourselves on the honest values and hard work ethic that have defined our practice since day one. Every member of our construction team is employed for their expertise and dedication to their craft. We do not compromise on materials, workmanship or the time required to achieve an outstanding finish.
Our projects regularly feature bespoke elements: structural glazing, handmade brick, engineered timber flooring, underfloor heating and integrated home automation. These are not optional extras bolted on at the end. They are considered at the design stage and installed by specialists we have worked with for years.
Safety is equally important. We are a fully insured and accredited company with every member of our team trained and working to the latest health and safety procedures.

We are based in Formby, Liverpool, and deliver projects across the North West. Our core service area includes Liverpool and its suburbs (Woolton, Mossley Hill, Aigburth, Allerton, Childwall), the wider Merseyside area (Formby, Crosby, Southport), the Wirral (Heswall, West Kirby) and Cheshire (Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Prestbury).
