Set in picturesque Lathom, in the heart of the Lancashire countryside, Needless Inn is a Grade II listed barn which had previously been converted into a contemporary home. Our brief was to add a sleek, modern, unique garden room to the property which was to connect with the existing accommodation. This innovative, architecturally designed structure had to respond to the conservation officer's request for, 'a total contrast to the existing building' and was so successful it became the winning design in the West Lancashire Design Awards 2017.

It’s always very satisfying to help bring an architect’s vision to life and our work on Needless Inn is the perfect example of this. An incredibly challenging build with many complex and experimental techniques employed, the result is award-winning and it’s a project we’re really proud of.

Our team employed specialist materials and building techniques during this project. Perfecting features like zinc standing seam roofing, zinc and cedar cladding, solar shading, frameless glazing and bi-folding doors, and creating a glass link where the extension connects to the original brickwork. Inside, the garden room benefits from a Bang & Olufsen entertainment system, as well as a free-standing log burner and premium stone tiles laid over underfloor heating. A project our craftsmen loved working on, we are delighted with the results of the Needless Inn's extension and proud to have worked on this award-winning design.
