Rebuild and Extension
Country Classic, from Country Pub to Handsome Residence
A former 17th century country pub, The Brookhouse Inn is nestled in a beautiful former quarry in Heskin, Lancashire, surrounded by lush greenery, a pretty stream and even its own lake. We totally transformed this property by dismantling most of the original sandstone structure and re-building it using both the original and carefully-sourced matching materials, which were then pointed in traditional lime mortar and complemented by timber sliding sash windows with stone surrounds. Our trusted team not only saved the crumbling pile from ruin, but also transformed the overall building with sympathetic extensions to the front and side elevations. In addition to this, we expanded the accommodation even further with a state of the art modern aluminium and glass box extension to the rear, with upper viewing deck to drink in and enjoy the newly landscaped gardens.
"Huge thanks to our client and property guru, Craig Ainscough, for his support during this complex project and allowing us to showcase our work on his home to many of our clients."- Paul Wickstead, Wickstead Developments
Inside, the accommodation has four generous bedroom suites that all include walk in wardrobes, en suite bathrooms and seating areas, as well as a SieMatic kitchen, cinema room and a bespoke walnut staircase with glass balustrading and a hand-crafted leather handrail. Brookhouse also features a stunning wine cellar which can be viewed through a glass floor in the dining hall, which was a great design feature we loved creating for our client. The property also includes technology such as a Control4 home automation package, cosy underfloor heating and renewable energy solutions including heat recovery and air source heat pumps. Outside, gabion retaining walls were constructed to create interesting levels to the rear of the two-storey garage and leisure complex, which overlooks that tranquil lake and garden view.
